15. Al-Hijr

قَالَHe saidهَٰذَاThisصِرَٰطٌ(is) the wayعَلَىَّto Meمُسْتَقِيمٌstraight﴿٤١﴾

[Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight

إِنَّIndeedعِبَادِىMy slavesلَيْسَnotلَكَyou haveعَلَيْهِمْover themسُلْطَٰنٌany authorityإِلَّاexceptمَنِthose whoٱتَّبَعَكَfollow youمِنَofٱلْغَاوِينَthe ones who go astray﴿٤٢﴾

Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators

وَإِنَّAnd indeedجَهَنَّمَHellلَمَوْعِدُهُمْ(is) surely the promised place for themأَجْمَعِينَall﴿٤٣﴾

And indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all

لَهَاFor itسَبْعَةُ(are) sevenأَبْوَٰبٍgatesلِّكُلِّfor eachبَابٍgateمِّنْهُمْamong themجُزْءٌ(is) a portionمَّقْسُومٌassigned﴿٤٤﴾

It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated

إِنَّIndeedٱلْمُتَّقِينَthe righteousفِى(will be) inجَنَّٰتٍGardensوَعُيُونٍand water springs﴿٤٥﴾

Indeed, the righteous will be within gardens and springs

ٱدْخُلُوهَاEnter itبِسَلَٰمٍin peaceءَامِنِينَsecure﴿٤٦﴾

[Having been told], "Enter it in peace, safe [and secure]

وَنَزَعْنَاAnd We (will) removeمَاwhatفِى(is) inصُدُورِهِمtheir breastsمِّنْofغِلٍّrancorإِخْوَٰنًا(they will be) brothersعَلَىٰonسُرُرٍthronesمُّتَقَٰبِلِينَfacing each other﴿٤٧﴾

And We will remove whatever is in their breasts of resentment, [so they will be] brothers, on thrones facing each other

لَاNotيَمَسُّهُمْwill touch themفِيهَاthereinنَصَبٌfatigueوَمَاand notهُمtheyمِّنْهَاfrom itبِمُخْرَجِينَwill be removed﴿٤٨﴾

No fatigue will touch them therein, nor from it will they [ever] be removed

نَبِّئْInformعِبَادِىٓMy slavesأَنِّىٓthat IأَنَاI amٱلْغَفُورُthe Oft-Forgivingٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful﴿٤٩﴾

[O Muhammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful

وَأَنَّAnd thatعَذَابِىMy punishmentهُوَitٱلْعَذَابُ(is) the punishmentٱلْأَلِيمُthe most painful﴿٥٠﴾

And that it is My punishment which is the painful punishment

وَنَبِّئْهُمْAnd inform themعَنaboutضَيْفِ(the) guestsإِبْرَٰهِيمَ(of) Ibrahim﴿٥١﴾

And inform them about the guests of Abraham

إِذْWhenدَخَلُوا۟they enteredعَلَيْهِupon himفَقَالُوا۟and saidسَلَٰمًاPeaceقَالَHe saidإِنَّاIndeed, weمِنكُمْ(are) of youوَجِلُونَafraid﴿٥٢﴾

When they entered upon him and said, "Peace." [Abraham] said, "Indeed, we are fearful of you

قَالُوا۟They saidلَا(Do) notتَوْجَلْbe afraidإِنَّاindeed, weنُبَشِّرُكَ[we] bring glad tidings to youبِغُلَٰمٍof a boyعَلِيمٍlearned﴿٥٣﴾

[The angels] said, "Fear not. Indeed, we give you good tidings of a learned boy

قَالَHe saidأَبَشَّرْتُمُونِىDo you give me glad tidingsعَلَىٰٓDo you give me glad tidingsأَنalthoughمَّسَّنِىَhas overtaken meٱلْكِبَرُold ageفَبِمَThen about whatتُبَشِّرُونَyou give glad tidings﴿٥٤﴾

He said, "Have you given me good tidings although old age has come upon me? Then of what [wonder] do you inform

قَالُوا۟They saidبَشَّرْنَٰكَWe give you glad tidingsبِٱلْحَقِّin truthفَلَاso (do) notتَكُنbeمِّنَofٱلْقَٰنِطِينَthe despairing﴿٥٥﴾

They said, "We have given you good tidings in truth, so do not be of the despairing

قَالَHe saidوَمَنAnd whoيَقْنَطُdespairsمِنofرَّحْمَةِ(the) Mercyرَبِّهِۦٓ(of) his Lordإِلَّاexceptٱلضَّآلُّونَthose who are astray﴿٥٦﴾

He said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those astray

قَالَHe saidفَمَاThen whatخَطْبُكُمْ(is) your businessأَيُّهَاO messengersٱلْمُرْسَلُونَO messengers﴿٥٧﴾

[Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers

قَالُوٓا۟They saidإِنَّآIndeed, weأُرْسِلْنَآ[we] have been sentإِلَىٰtoقَوْمٍa people مُّجْرِمِينَcriminals﴿٥٨﴾

They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals

إِلَّآExceptءَالَthe familyلُوطٍof Lutإِنَّاindeed, weلَمُنَجُّوهُمْsurely will save themأَجْمَعِينَall﴿٥٩﴾

Except the family of Lot; indeed, we will save them all

إِلَّاExceptٱمْرَأَتَهُۥhis wifeقَدَّرْنَآWe have decreedإِنَّهَاthat sheلَمِنَ(is) surely ofٱلْغَٰبِرِينَthose who remain behind﴿٦٠﴾

Except his wife." Allah decreed that she is of those who remain behind
