15. Al-Hijr

وَإِنAnd notمِّن(is) anyشَىْءٍthingإِلَّاbutعِندَنَاwith Usخَزَآئِنُهُۥ(are) its treasuresوَمَاand notنُنَزِّلُهُۥٓWe send it downإِلَّاexceptبِقَدَرٍin a measureمَّعْلُومٍknown﴿٢١﴾

And there is not a thing but that with Us are its depositories, and We do not send it down except according to a known measure

وَأَرْسَلْنَاAnd We have sentٱلرِّيَٰحَthe windsلَوَٰقِحَfertilizingفَأَنزَلْنَاand We sent downمِنَfromٱلسَّمَآءِthe skyمَآءًwaterفَأَسْقَيْنَٰكُمُوهُand We gave it to you to drinkوَمَآAnd notأَنتُمْyouلَهُۥof itبِخَٰزِنِينَ(are) retainers﴿٢٢﴾

And We have sent the fertilizing winds and sent down water from the sky and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers

وَإِنَّاAnd indeed, Weلَنَحْنُsurely [We]نُحْىِۦWe give lifeوَنُمِيتُand We cause deathوَنَحْنُand Weٱلْوَٰرِثُونَ(are) the Inheritors﴿٢٣﴾

And indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritor

وَلَقَدْAnd verilyعَلِمْنَاWe knowٱلْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَthe preceding onesمِنكُمْamong youوَلَقَدْand verilyعَلِمْنَاWe knowٱلْمُسْتَـْٔخِرِينَthe later ones﴿٢٤﴾

And We have already known the preceding [generations] among you, and We have already known the later [ones to come]

وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour LordهُوَHeيَحْشُرُهُمْwill gather themإِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heحَكِيمٌ(is) All-WiseعَلِيمٌAll-Knowing﴿٢٥﴾

And indeed, your Lord will gather them; indeed, He is Wise and Knowing

وَلَقَدْAnd verilyخَلَقْنَاWe createdٱلْإِنسَٰنَhumankindمِن(out) ofصَلْصَٰلٍsounding clayمِّنْfromحَمَإٍblack mudمَّسْنُونٍaltered﴿٢٦﴾

And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud

وَٱلْجَآنَّAnd the jinnخَلَقْنَٰهُWe created itمِنbeforeقَبْلُbeforeمِنfromنَّارِfireٱلسَّمُومِscorching﴿٢٧﴾

And the jinn We created before from scorching fire

وَإِذْAnd whenقَالَyour Lord saidرَبُّكَyour Lord saidلِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِto the AngelsإِنِّىIndeed, Iخَٰلِقٌۢ(will) createبَشَرًاa human beingمِّن(out) ofصَلْصَٰلٍclayمِّنْfromحَمَإٍblack mudمَّسْنُونٍaltered﴿٢٨﴾

And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud

فَإِذَاSo, whenسَوَّيْتُهُۥI have fashioned himوَنَفَخْتُand [I] breathedفِيهِinto himمِنofرُّوحِىMy spiritفَقَعُوا۟then fall downلَهُۥto himسَٰجِدِينَprostrating﴿٢٩﴾

And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration

فَسَجَدَSo prostratedٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُthe Angelsكُلُّهُمْall of themأَجْمَعُونَtogether﴿٣٠﴾

So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely

إِلَّآExceptإِبْلِيسَIblisأَبَىٰٓHe refusedأَنtoيَكُونَbeمَعَwithٱلسَّٰجِدِينَthose who prostrated﴿٣١﴾

Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated

قَالَHe saidيَٰٓإِبْلِيسُO IblisمَاWhatلَكَ(is) for youأَلَّاthat notتَكُونَyou areمَعَwithٱلسَّٰجِدِينَthose who prostrated﴿٣٢﴾

[Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate

قَالَHe saidلَمْI am notأَكُنI am notلِّأَسْجُدَ(one) to prostrateلِبَشَرٍto a humanخَلَقْتَهُۥwhom You createdمِن(out) ofصَلْصَٰلٍclayمِّنْfromحَمَإٍblack mudمَّسْنُونٍaltered﴿٣٣﴾

He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud

قَالَHe saidفَٱخْرُجْThen get outمِنْهَاof itفَإِنَّكَfor indeed, youرَجِيمٌ(are) expelled﴿٣٤﴾

[Allah] said, "Then get out of it, for indeed, you are expelled

وَإِنَّAnd indeedعَلَيْكَupon youٱللَّعْنَةَ(will be) the curseإِلَىٰtillيَوْمِ(the) Dayٱلدِّينِ(of) [the] Judgment﴿٣٥﴾

And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense

قَالَHe saidرَبِّO my LordفَأَنظِرْنِىٓThen give me respiteإِلَىٰtillيَوْمِ(the) Dayيُبْعَثُونَthey are raised﴿٣٦﴾

He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected

قَالَHe saidفَإِنَّكَThen indeed youمِنَ(are) ofٱلْمُنظَرِينَthe ones given respite﴿٣٧﴾

[Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved

إِلَىٰTillيَوْمِthe Dayٱلْوَقْتِ(of) the timeٱلْمَعْلُومِwell-known﴿٣٨﴾

Until the Day of the time well-known

قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy LordبِمَآBecauseأَغْوَيْتَنِىYou misled meلَأُزَيِّنَنَّsurely, I will make (evil) fair-seemingلَهُمْto themفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthوَلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْand I will mislead themأَجْمَعِينَall﴿٣٩﴾

[Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all

إِلَّاExceptعِبَادَكَYour slavesمِنْهُمُamong themٱلْمُخْلَصِينَthe ones who are sincere﴿٤٠﴾

Except, among them, Your chosen servants
