26. Ash-Shu'ara

إِذْWhenقَالَsaidلَهُمْto themأَخُوهُمْtheir brotherلُوطٌLutأَلَاWill notتَتَّقُونَyou fear (Allah)﴿١٦١﴾

When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allah

إِنِّىIndeed, I amلَكُمْto youرَسُولٌa Messengerأَمِينٌtrustworthy﴿١٦٢﴾

Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger

فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearٱللَّهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me﴿١٦٣﴾

So fear Allah and obey me

وَمَآAnd notأَسْـَٔلُكُمْI ask youعَلَيْهِfor itمِنْanyأَجْرٍpaymentإِنْNotأَجْرِىَ(is) my paymentإِلَّاexceptعَلَىٰfromرَبِّ(the) Lordٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds﴿١٦٤﴾

And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds

أَتَأْتُونَDo you approachٱلذُّكْرَانَthe malesمِنَamongٱلْعَٰلَمِينَthe worlds﴿١٦٥﴾

Do you approach males among the worlds

وَتَذَرُونَAnd you leaveمَاwhatخَلَقَcreatedلَكُمْfor youرَبُّكُمyour Lordمِّنْofأَزْوَٰجِكُمyour matesبَلْNayأَنتُمْyouقَوْمٌ(are) a peopleعَادُونَtransgressing﴿١٦٦﴾

And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing

قَالُوا۟They saidلَئِنIfلَّمْnotتَنتَهِyou desistيَٰلُوطُO LutلَتَكُونَنَّSurely, you will beمِنَofٱلْمُخْرَجِينَthe ones driven out﴿١٦٧﴾

They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted

قَالَHe saidإِنِّىIndeed, I amلِعَمَلِكُم(of) your deedمِّنَofٱلْقَالِينَthose who detest﴿١٦٨﴾

He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]

رَبِّMy LordنَجِّنِىSave meوَأَهْلِىand my familyمِمَّاfrom whatيَعْمَلُونَthey do﴿١٦٩﴾

My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do

فَنَجَّيْنَٰهُSo We saved himوَأَهْلَهُۥٓand his familyأَجْمَعِينَall﴿١٧٠﴾

So We saved him and his family, all

إِلَّاExceptعَجُوزًاan old womanفِى(was) amongٱلْغَٰبِرِينَthose who remained behind﴿١٧١﴾

Except an old woman among those who remained behind

ثُمَّThenدَمَّرْنَاWe destroyedٱلْءَاخَرِينَthe others﴿١٧٢﴾

Then We destroyed the others

وَأَمْطَرْنَاAnd We rainedعَلَيْهِمupon themمَّطَرًاa rainفَسَآءَand evil wasمَطَرُ(was) the rainٱلْمُنذَرِينَ(on) those who were warned﴿١٧٣﴾

And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned

إِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَءَايَةًsurely is a signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers﴿١٧٤﴾

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers

وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely, Heٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful﴿١٧٥﴾

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful

كَذَّبَDeniedأَصْحَٰبُ(the) companionsلْـَٔيْكَةِ(of the) Woodٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers﴿١٧٦﴾

The companions of the thicket denied the messengers

إِذْWhenقَالَsaidلَهُمْto themشُعَيْبٌShuaibأَلَاWill notتَتَّقُونَyou fear (Allah)﴿١٧٧﴾

When Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allah

إِنِّىIndeed, I amلَكُمْto youرَسُولٌa Messengerأَمِينٌtrustworthy﴿١٧٨﴾

Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger

فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearٱللَّهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me﴿١٧٩﴾
