26. Ash-Shu'ara

فَلَمَّاSo whenجَآءَcameٱلسَّحَرَةُthe magiciansقَالُوا۟they saidلِفِرْعَوْنَto FiraunأَئِنَّIs thereلَنَاfor usلَأَجْرًاa rewardإِنifكُنَّاwe areنَحْنُwe areٱلْغَٰلِبِينَthe victorious﴿٤١﴾

And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant

قَالَHe saidنَعَمْYesوَإِنَّكُمْand indeed youإِذًاthenلَّمِنَsurely (will be) ofٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَthe ones who are brought near﴿٤٢﴾

He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]

قَالَSaidلَهُمto themمُّوسَىٰٓMusaأَلْقُوا۟Throwمَآwhatأَنتُمyouمُّلْقُونَ(are) going to throw﴿٤٣﴾

Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw

فَأَلْقَوْا۟So they threwحِبَالَهُمْtheir ropesوَعِصِيَّهُمْand their staffsوَقَالُوا۟and saidبِعِزَّةِBy the mightفِرْعَوْنَ(of) Firaunإِنَّاindeed, weلَنَحْنُsurely, weٱلْغَٰلِبُونَ(are) the victorious﴿٤٤﴾

So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant

فَأَلْقَىٰThen threwمُوسَىٰMusaعَصَاهُhis staffفَإِذَاand beholdهِىَItتَلْقَفُswallowedمَاwhatيَأْفِكُونَthey falsified﴿٤٥﴾

Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified

فَأُلْقِىَThen fell downٱلسَّحَرَةُthe magiciansسَٰجِدِينَprostrate﴿٤٦﴾

So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]

قَالُوٓا۟They saidءَامَنَّاWe believeبِرَبِّin (the) Lordٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds﴿٤٧﴾

They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds

رَبِّLordمُوسَىٰ(of) Musaوَهَٰرُونَand Harun﴿٤٨﴾

The Lord of Moses and Aaron

قَالَHe saidءَامَنتُمْYou believedلَهُۥin himقَبْلَbeforeأَنْ[that]ءَاذَنَI gave permissionلَكُمْto youإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heلَكَبِيرُكُمُ(is) surely your chiefٱلَّذِىwhoعَلَّمَكُمُhas taught youٱلسِّحْرَthe magicفَلَسَوْفَso surely soonتَعْلَمُونَyou will knowلَأُقَطِّعَنَّI will surely cut offأَيْدِيَكُمْyour handsوَأَرْجُلَكُمand your feetمِّنْofخِلَٰفٍopposite sidesوَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْand I will surely crucify youأَجْمَعِينَall﴿٤٩﴾

[Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all

قَالُوا۟They saidلَاNoضَيْرَharmإِنَّآIndeed, weإِلَىٰtoرَبِّنَاour Lordمُنقَلِبُونَ(will) return﴿٥٠﴾

They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return

إِنَّاIndeed, weنَطْمَعُhopeأَنthatيَغْفِرَwill forgiveلَنَاusرَبُّنَاour Lordخَطَٰيَٰنَآour sinsأَنbecauseكُنَّآwe areأَوَّلَ(the) firstٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ(of) the believers﴿٥١﴾

Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers

وَأَوْحَيْنَآAnd We inspiredإِلَىٰtoمُوسَىٰٓMusaأَنْ[that]أَسْرِTravel by nightبِعِبَادِىٓwith My slavesإِنَّكُمindeed, youمُّتَّبَعُونَ(will be) followed﴿٥٢﴾

And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued

فَأَرْسَلَThen sentفِرْعَوْنُFiraunفِىinٱلْمَدَآئِنِthe citiesحَٰشِرِينَgatherers﴿٥٣﴾

Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers

إِنَّIndeedهَٰٓؤُلَآءِtheseلَشِرْذِمَةٌ(are) certainly a bandقَلِيلُونَsmall﴿٥٤﴾

[And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band

وَإِنَّهُمْAnd indeed, theyلَنَا[to] usلَغَآئِظُونَ(are) surely enraging﴿٥٥﴾

And indeed, they are enraging us

وَإِنَّاAnd indeed, weلَجَمِيعٌ(are) surely a multitudeحَٰذِرُونَforewarned﴿٥٦﴾

And indeed, we are a cautious society

فَأَخْرَجْنَٰهُمSo We expelled themمِّنfromجَنَّٰتٍgardensوَعُيُونٍand springs﴿٥٧﴾

So We removed them from gardens and springs

وَكُنُوزٍAnd treasuresوَمَقَامٍand a placeكَرِيمٍhonorable﴿٥٨﴾

And treasures and honorable station

كَذَٰلِكَThusوَأَوْرَثْنَٰهَاAnd We caused to inherit themبَنِىٓ(the) Children of Israelإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(the) Children of Israel﴿٥٩﴾

Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel

فَأَتْبَعُوهُمSo they followed themمُّشْرِقِينَ(at) sunrise﴿٦٠﴾

So they pursued them at sunrise
