70. Al-Ma'arij

عَلَىٰٓ[On]أَنtoنُّبَدِّلَ[We] replaceخَيْرًا(with) betterمِّنْهُمْthan themوَمَاand notنَحْنُWeبِمَسْبُوقِينَ(are) to be outrun﴿٤١﴾

To replace them with better than them; and We are not to be outdone

فَذَرْهُمْSo leave themيَخُوضُوا۟(to) converse vainlyوَيَلْعَبُوا۟and amuse themselvesحَتَّىٰuntilيُلَٰقُوا۟they meetيَوْمَهُمُtheir Dayٱلَّذِىwhichيُوعَدُونَthey are promised﴿٤٢﴾

So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised

يَوْمَ(The) Dayيَخْرُجُونَthey will come outمِنَfromٱلْأَجْدَاثِthe gravesسِرَاعًاrapidlyكَأَنَّهُمْas if they (were)إِلَىٰtoنُصُبٍa goalيُوفِضُونَhastening﴿٤٣﴾

The Day they will emerge from the graves rapidly as if they were, toward an erected idol, hastening

خَٰشِعَةًHumbledأَبْصَٰرُهُمْtheir eyesightsتَرْهَقُهُمْwill cover themذِلَّةٌhumiliationذَٰلِكَThatٱلْيَوْمُ(is) the Dayٱلَّذِىwhichكَانُوا۟they wereيُوعَدُونَpromised﴿٤٤﴾

Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. That is the Day which they had been promised
