76. Al-Insan

هَلْHasأَتَىٰ(there) comeعَلَىuponٱلْإِنسَٰنِmanحِينٌa periodمِّنَofٱلدَّهْرِtimeلَمْnotيَكُنhe wasشَيْـًٔاa thingمَّذْكُورًاmentioned﴿١﴾

Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned

إِنَّاIndeed, Weخَلَقْنَا[We] createdٱلْإِنسَٰنَmanمِنfromنُّطْفَةٍa semen-dropأَمْشَاجٍa mixtureنَّبْتَلِيهِ(that) We test himفَجَعَلْنَٰهُso We made (for) himسَمِيعًۢاhearingبَصِيرًاand sight﴿٢﴾

Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing

إِنَّاIndeed, Weهَدَيْنَٰهُguided himٱلسَّبِيلَ(to) the wayإِمَّاwhetherشَاكِرًا(he) be gratefulوَإِمَّاand whetherكَفُورًا(he) be ungrateful﴿٣﴾

Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful

إِنَّآIndeed, Weأَعْتَدْنَا[We] have preparedلِلْكَٰفِرِينَfor the disbelieversسَلَٰسِلَا۟chainsوَأَغْلَٰلًاand shacklesوَسَعِيرًاand a Blazing Fire﴿٤﴾

Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze

إِنَّIndeedٱلْأَبْرَارَthe righteousيَشْرَبُونَwill drinkمِنfromكَأْسٍa cupكَانَisمِزَاجُهَاits mixtureكَافُورًا(of) Kafur﴿٥﴾

Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur

عَيْنًاA spring يَشْرَبُwill drinkبِهَاfrom itعِبَادُ(the) slavesٱللَّهِ(of) Allahيُفَجِّرُونَهَاcausing it to gush forthتَفْجِيرًاabundantly﴿٦﴾

A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]

يُوفُونَThey fulfillبِٱلنَّذْرِthe vowsوَيَخَافُونَand fearيَوْمًاa Day كَانَ(which) isشَرُّهُۥits evilمُسْتَطِيرًاwidespread﴿٧﴾

They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread

وَيُطْعِمُونَAnd they feedٱلطَّعَامَthe foodعَلَىٰin spite ofحُبِّهِۦlove (for) itمِسْكِينًا(to the) needyوَيَتِيمًاand (the) orphanوَأَسِيرًاand (the) captive﴿٨﴾

And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive

إِنَّمَاOnlyنُطْعِمُكُمْwe feed youلِوَجْهِfor (the) Countenanceٱللَّهِ(of) AllahلَاNotنُرِيدُwe desireمِنكُمْfrom youجَزَآءًany rewardوَلَاand notشُكُورًاthanks﴿٩﴾

[Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude

إِنَّاIndeed, weنَخَافُfearمِنfromرَّبِّنَاour Lordيَوْمًاa Day عَبُوسًاharshقَمْطَرِيرًاand distressful﴿١٠﴾

Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful

فَوَقَىٰهُمُBut will protect themٱللَّهُAllahشَرَّ(from the) evilذَٰلِكَ(of) thatٱلْيَوْمِDayوَلَقَّىٰهُمْand will cause them to meetنَضْرَةًradianceوَسُرُورًاand happiness﴿١١﴾

So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness

وَجَزَىٰهُمAnd will reward themبِمَاbecauseصَبَرُوا۟they were patientجَنَّةً(with) a Gardenوَحَرِيرًاand silk﴿١٢﴾

And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]

مُّتَّكِـِٔينَRecliningفِيهَاthereinعَلَىonٱلْأَرَآئِكِcouchesلَاNotيَرَوْنَthey will seeفِيهَاthereinشَمْسًاsunوَلَاand notزَمْهَرِيرًاfreezing cold﴿١٣﴾

[They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold

وَدَانِيَةًAnd nearعَلَيْهِمْabove themظِلَٰلُهَا(are) its shadesوَذُلِّلَتْand will hang lowقُطُوفُهَاits cluster of fruitsتَذْلِيلًاdangling low﴿١٤﴾

And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance

وَيُطَافُAnd will be circulatedعَلَيْهِمamong themبِـَٔانِيَةٍvesselsمِّنofفِضَّةٍsilverوَأَكْوَابٍand cupsكَانَتْ(that) areقَوَارِيرَا۠(of) crystal﴿١٥﴾

And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass]

قَوَارِيرَا۟Crystal-clearمِنofفِضَّةٍsilverقَدَّرُوهَاThey will determine itsتَقْدِيرًاmeasure﴿١٦﴾

Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure

وَيُسْقَوْنَAnd they will be given to drinkفِيهَاthereinكَأْسًاa cup كَانَisمِزَاجُهَاits mixtureزَنجَبِيلًا(of) Zanjabil﴿١٧﴾

And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger

عَيْنًاA springفِيهَاthereinتُسَمَّىٰnamedسَلْسَبِيلًاSalsabil﴿١٨﴾

[From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel

وَيَطُوفُAnd will circulateعَلَيْهِمْamong themوِلْدَٰنٌyoung boysمُّخَلَّدُونَmade eternalإِذَاWhenرَأَيْتَهُمْyou see themحَسِبْتَهُمْyou would think themلُؤْلُؤًا(to be) pearlsمَّنثُورًاscattered﴿١٩﴾

There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls

وَإِذَاAnd whenرَأَيْتَyou lookثَمَّthenرَأَيْتَyou will seeنَعِيمًاblessingsوَمُلْكًاand a kingdomكَبِيرًاgreat﴿٢٠﴾

And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion
