75. Al-Qiyamah

لَآNayأُقْسِمُI swearبِيَوْمِby (the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrection﴿١﴾

I swear by the Day of Resurrection

وَلَآAnd nayأُقْسِمُI swearبِٱلنَّفْسِby the soulٱللَّوَّامَةِself-accusing﴿٢﴾

And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection]

أَيَحْسَبُDoes thinkٱلْإِنسَٰنُ[the] manأَلَّنthat notنَّجْمَعَWe will assembleعِظَامَهُۥhis bones﴿٣﴾

Does man think that We will not assemble his bones

بَلَىٰNayقَٰدِرِينَ(We are) AbleعَلَىٰٓonأَنthatنُّسَوِّىَWe can restoreبَنَانَهُۥhis fingertips﴿٤﴾

Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips

بَلْNayيُرِيدُDesiresٱلْإِنسَٰنُ[the] manلِيَفْجُرَto give (the) lieأَمَامَهُۥ(to) what is before him﴿٥﴾

But man desires to continue in sin

يَسْـَٔلُHe asksأَيَّانَWhenيَوْمُ(is the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrection﴿٦﴾

He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection

فَإِذَاSo whenبَرِقَis dazzledٱلْبَصَرُthe vision﴿٧﴾

So when vision is dazzled

وَخَسَفَAnd becomes darkٱلْقَمَرُthe moon﴿٨﴾

And the moon darkens

وَجُمِعَAnd are joinedٱلشَّمْسُthe sunوَٱلْقَمَرُand the moon﴿٩﴾

And the sun and the moon are joined

يَقُولُWill sayٱلْإِنسَٰنُ[the] manيَوْمَئِذٍthat DayأَيْنَWhereٱلْمَفَرُّ(is) the escape﴿١٠﴾

Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape

كَلَّاBy no meansلَا(There is) noوَزَرَrefuge﴿١١﴾

No! There is no refuge

إِلَىٰToرَبِّكَyour Lordيَوْمَئِذٍthat Dayٱلْمُسْتَقَرُّ(is) the place of rest﴿١٢﴾

To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence

يُنَبَّؤُا۟Will be informedٱلْإِنسَٰنُ[the] manيَوْمَئِذٍۭthat Dayبِمَاof whatقَدَّمَhe sent forthوَأَخَّرَand kept back﴿١٣﴾

Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back

بَلِNayٱلْإِنسَٰنُ[The] manعَلَىٰagainstنَفْسِهِۦhimselfبَصِيرَةٌ(will be) a witness﴿١٤﴾

Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness

وَلَوْEven ifأَلْقَىٰhe presentsمَعَاذِيرَهُۥhis excuses﴿١٥﴾

Even if he presents his excuses

لَاNotتُحَرِّكْmoveبِهِۦwith itلِسَانَكَyour tongueلِتَعْجَلَto hastenبِهِۦٓwith it﴿١٦﴾

Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an

إِنَّIndeedعَلَيْنَاupon Usجَمْعَهُۥ(is) its collectionوَقُرْءَانَهُۥand its recitation﴿١٧﴾

Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation

فَإِذَاAnd whenقَرَأْنَٰهُWe have recited itفَٱتَّبِعْthen followقُرْءَانَهُۥits recitation﴿١٨﴾

So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation

ثُمَّThenإِنَّindeedعَلَيْنَاupon Usبَيَانَهُۥ(is) its explanation﴿١٩﴾

Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]

كَلَّاNoبَلْButتُحِبُّونَyou loveٱلْعَاجِلَةَthe immediate﴿٢٠﴾

No! But you love the immediate
