56. Al-Waqi'ah

عَلَىٰٓInأَنthatنُّبَدِّلَWe (will) changeأَمْثَٰلَكُمْyour likeness[es]وَنُنشِئَكُمْand produce youفِىinمَاwhatلَاnotتَعْلَمُونَyou know﴿٦١﴾

In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know

وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyعَلِمْتُمُyou knowٱلنَّشْأَةَthe creationٱلْأُولَىٰthe firstفَلَوْلَاso why notتَذَكَّرُونَyou take heed﴿٦٢﴾

And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember

أَفَرَءَيْتُمAnd do you seeمَّاwhatتَحْرُثُونَyou sow﴿٦٣﴾

And have you seen that [seed] which you sow

ءَأَنتُمْIs it you (who)تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓcause it to growأَمْorنَحْنُ(are) Weٱلزَّٰرِعُونَthe Ones Who grow﴿٦٤﴾

Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower

لَوْIfنَشَآءُWe willedلَجَعَلْنَٰهُWe (would) surely, make itحُطَٰمًاdebrisفَظَلْتُمْthen you would remainتَفَكَّهُونَwondering﴿٦٥﴾

If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder

إِنَّاIndeed, weلَمُغْرَمُونَsurely are laden with debt﴿٦٦﴾

[Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt

بَلْNayنَحْنُweمَحْرُومُونَ(are) deprived﴿٦٧﴾

Rather, we have been deprived

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُDo you seeٱلْمَآءَthe waterٱلَّذِىwhichتَشْرَبُونَyou drink﴿٦٨﴾

And have you seen the water that you drink

ءَأَنتُمْIs it youأَنزَلْتُمُوهُwho send it downمِنَfromٱلْمُزْنِthe rain cloudsأَمْorنَحْنُWeٱلْمُنزِلُونَ(are) the Ones to send﴿٦٩﴾

Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down

لَوْIfنَشَآءُWe willedجَعَلْنَٰهُWe (could) make itأُجَاجًاsaltyفَلَوْلَاthen why are you not gratefulتَشْكُرُونَthen why are you not grateful﴿٧٠﴾

If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُDo you seeٱلنَّارَthe Fireٱلَّتِىwhichتُورُونَyou ignite﴿٧١﴾

And have you seen the fire that you ignite

ءَأَنتُمْIs it youأَنشَأْتُمْwho producedشَجَرَتَهَآits treeأَمْorنَحْنُWeٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ(are) the Producers﴿٧٢﴾

Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer

نَحْنُWeجَعَلْنَٰهَاhave made itتَذْكِرَةًa reminderوَمَتَٰعًاand a provisionلِّلْمُقْوِينَfor the wayfarers in the desert﴿٧٣﴾

We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers

فَسَبِّحْSo glorifyبِٱسْمِ(the) nameرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordٱلْعَظِيمِthe Most Great﴿٧٤﴾

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great

فَلَآBut nayأُقْسِمُI swearبِمَوَٰقِعِby settingٱلنُّجُومِ(of) the stars﴿٧٥﴾

Then I swear by the setting of the stars

وَإِنَّهُۥAnd indeed, itلَقَسَمٌ(is) surely an oathلَّوْifتَعْلَمُونَyou know عَظِيمٌgreat﴿٧٦﴾

And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great

إِنَّهُۥIndeed, itلَقُرْءَانٌ(is) surely, a Quranكَرِيمٌnoble﴿٧٧﴾

Indeed, it is a noble Qur'an

فِىInكِتَٰبٍa Bookمَّكْنُونٍwell-guarded﴿٧٨﴾

In a Register well-protected

لَّاNoneيَمَسُّهُۥٓtouch itإِلَّاexceptٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَthe purified﴿٧٩﴾

None touch it except the purified

تَنزِيلٌA Revelationمِّنfromرَّبِّ(the) Lordٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds﴿٨٠﴾

[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds
