51. Adh-Dhariyat

وَفِىٓAnd inأَنفُسِكُمْyourselvesأَفَلَاThen will notتُبْصِرُونَyou see﴿٢١﴾

And in yourselves. Then will you not see

وَفِىAnd inٱلسَّمَآءِthe heavenرِزْقُكُمْ(is) your provisionوَمَاand whatتُوعَدُونَyou are promised﴿٢٢﴾

And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised

فَوَرَبِّThen by (the) Lordٱلسَّمَآءِ(of) the heavenوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthإِنَّهُۥindeed, itلَحَقٌّ(is) surely (the) truthمِّثْلَ(just) asمَآ[what]أَنَّكُمْyouتَنطِقُونَspeak﴿٢٣﴾

Then by the Lord of the heaven and earth, indeed, it is truth - just as [sure as] it is that you are speaking

هَلْHasأَتَىٰكَreached youحَدِيثُ(the) narrationضَيْفِ(of the) guestsإِبْرَٰهِيمَ(of) Ibrahimٱلْمُكْرَمِينَthe honored﴿٢٤﴾

Has there reached you the story of the honored guests of Abraham

إِذْWhenدَخَلُوا۟they enteredعَلَيْهِupon himفَقَالُوا۟and saidسَلَٰمًاPeaceقَالَHe saidسَلَٰمٌPeaceقَوْمٌa peopleمُّنكَرُونَunknown﴿٢٥﴾

When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace, [you are] a people unknown

فَرَاغَThen he wentإِلَىٰٓtoأَهْلِهِۦhis householdفَجَآءَand cameبِعِجْلٍwith a calfسَمِينٍfat﴿٢٦﴾

Then he went to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf

فَقَرَّبَهُۥٓAnd he placed it nearإِلَيْهِمْ[to] themقَالَhe saidأَلَاWill notتَأْكُلُونَyou eat﴿٢٧﴾

And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat

فَأَوْجَسَThen he feltمِنْهُمْfrom themخِيفَةًa fearقَالُوا۟They saidلَا(Do) notتَخَفْfearوَبَشَّرُوهُand they gave him glad tidingsبِغُلَٰمٍof a sonعَلِيمٍlearned﴿٢٨﴾

And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy

فَأَقْبَلَتِThen came forwardٱمْرَأَتُهُۥhis wifeفِىwithصَرَّةٍa loud voiceفَصَكَّتْand struckوَجْهَهَاher faceوَقَالَتْand she saidعَجُوزٌAn old womanعَقِيمٌbarren﴿٢٩﴾

And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman

قَالُوا۟They saidكَذَٰلِكِThusقَالَsaidرَبُّكِyour LordإِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heهُوَ[He]ٱلْحَكِيمُ(is) the All-Wiseٱلْعَلِيمُthe All-Knower﴿٣٠﴾

They said, "Thus has said your Lord; indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing

قَالَHe saidفَمَاThen whatخَطْبُكُمْ(is) your missionأَيُّهَاO messengersٱلْمُرْسَلُونَO messengers﴿٣١﴾

[Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers

قَالُوٓا۟They saidإِنَّآIndeed, weأُرْسِلْنَآ[we] have been sentإِلَىٰtoقَوْمٍa peopleمُّجْرِمِينَcriminal﴿٣٢﴾

They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals

لِنُرْسِلَThat we may send downعَلَيْهِمْupon themحِجَارَةًstonesمِّنofطِينٍclay﴿٣٣﴾

To send down upon them stones of clay

مُّسَوَّمَةًMarkedعِندَby your Lordرَبِّكَby your Lordلِلْمُسْرِفِينَfor the transgressors﴿٣٤﴾

Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors

فَأَخْرَجْنَاThen We brought outمَن(those) whoكَانَwereفِيهَاthereinمِنَofٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believers﴿٣٥﴾

So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers

فَمَاBut notوَجَدْنَاWe foundفِيهَاthereinغَيْرَother thanبَيْتٍa houseمِّنَofٱلْمُسْلِمِينَthe Muslims﴿٣٦﴾

And We found not within them other than a [single] house of Muslims

وَتَرَكْنَاAnd We leftفِيهَآthereinءَايَةًa Signلِّلَّذِينَfor those whoيَخَافُونَfearٱلْعَذَابَthe punishmentٱلْأَلِيمَthe painful﴿٣٧﴾

And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment

وَفِىAnd inمُوسَىٰٓMusaإِذْwhenأَرْسَلْنَٰهُWe sent himإِلَىٰtoفِرْعَوْنَFiraunبِسُلْطَٰنٍwith an authorityمُّبِينٍclear﴿٣٨﴾

And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority

فَتَوَلَّىٰBut he turned awayبِرُكْنِهِۦwith his supportersوَقَالَand saidسَٰحِرٌA magicianأَوْorمَجْنُونٌa madman﴿٣٩﴾

But he turned away with his supporters and said," A magician or a madman

فَأَخَذْنَٰهُSo We took himوَجُنُودَهُۥand his hostsفَنَبَذْنَٰهُمْand threw themفِىintoٱلْيَمِّthe seaوَهُوَwhile heمُلِيمٌ(was) blameworthy﴿٤٠﴾

So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy
