37. As-Saffat

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseلَهُمْfor themرِزْقٌ(will be) a provisionمَّعْلُومٌdetermined﴿٤١﴾

Those will have a provision determined

فَوَٰكِهُFruitsوَهُمand theyمُّكْرَمُونَ(will) be honored﴿٤٢﴾

Fruits; and they will be honored

فِىInجَنَّٰتِGardensٱلنَّعِيمِ(of) Delight﴿٤٣﴾

In gardens of pleasure

عَلَىٰOnسُرُرٍthronesمُّتَقَٰبِلِينَfacing each other﴿٤٤﴾

On thrones facing one another

يُطَافُWill be circulatedعَلَيْهِمamong themبِكَأْسٍa cupمِّنfromمَّعِينٍۭa flowing spring﴿٤٥﴾

There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring

بَيْضَآءَWhiteلَذَّةٍdeliciousلِّلشَّٰرِبِينَfor the drinkers﴿٤٦﴾

White and delicious to the drinkers

لَاNotفِيهَاin itغَوْلٌ(is) bad effectوَلَاand notهُمْtheyعَنْهَاfrom itيُنزَفُونَwill be intoxicated﴿٤٧﴾

No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated

وَعِندَهُمْAnd with themقَٰصِرَٰتُ(will be) companions of modest gazeٱلطَّرْفِ(will be) companions of modest gazeعِينٌ(having) beautiful eyes﴿٤٨﴾

And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes

كَأَنَّهُنَّAs if they wereبَيْضٌeggsمَّكْنُونٌwell protected﴿٤٩﴾

As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected

فَأَقْبَلَAnd (will) approachبَعْضُهُمْsome of themعَلَىٰtoبَعْضٍothersيَتَسَآءَلُونَquestioning one another﴿٥٠﴾

And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other

قَالَWill sayقَآئِلٌa speakerمِّنْهُمْamong themإِنِّىIndeed, Iكَانَhadلِىfor meقَرِينٌa companion﴿٥١﴾

A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth]

يَقُولُWho (would) sayأَءِنَّكَAre you indeedلَمِنَsurely ofٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَthose who believe﴿٥٢﴾

Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe

أَءِذَاIs (it) whenمِتْنَاwe have diedوَكُنَّاand becomeتُرَابًاdustوَعِظَٰمًاand bonesأَءِنَّاwill weلَمَدِينُونَsurely be brought to Judgment﴿٥٣﴾

That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed

قَالَHe (will) sayهَلْWillأَنتُمyouمُّطَّلِعُونَbe looking﴿٥٤﴾

He will say, "Would you [care to] look

فَٱطَّلَعَThen he (will) lookفَرَءَاهُand see himفِىinسَوَآءِ(the) midstٱلْجَحِيمِ(of) the Hellfire﴿٥٥﴾

And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire

قَالَHe (will) sayتَٱللَّهِBy Allahإِنverilyكِدتَّyou almostلَتُرْدِينِruined me﴿٥٦﴾

He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me

وَلَوْلَاAnd if notنِعْمَةُ(for the) Graceرَبِّى(of) my Lordلَكُنتُcertainly, I (would) have beenمِنَamongٱلْمُحْضَرِينَthose brought﴿٥٧﴾

If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]

أَفَمَاThen are notنَحْنُweبِمَيِّتِينَ(to) die﴿٥٨﴾

Then, are we not to die

إِلَّاExceptمَوْتَتَنَاour deathٱلْأُولَىٰthe firstوَمَاand notنَحْنُweبِمُعَذَّبِينَwill be punished﴿٥٩﴾

Except for our first death, and we will not be punished

إِنَّIndeedهَٰذَاthisلَهُوَsurelyٱلْفَوْزُ(is) the attainmentٱلْعَظِيمُgreat﴿٦٠﴾

Indeed, this is the great attainment
