36. Ya-Sin

وَءَايَةٌAnd a Signلَّهُمْfor themأَنَّا(is) thatحَمَلْنَاWe carriedذُرِّيَّتَهُمْtheir offspringفِىinٱلْفُلْكِthe shipٱلْمَشْحُونِladen﴿٤١﴾

And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship

وَخَلَقْنَاAnd We createdلَهُمfor themمِّنfromمِّثْلِهِۦ(the) likes of itمَاwhatيَرْكَبُونَthey ride﴿٤٢﴾

And We created for them from the likes of it that which they ride

وَإِنAnd ifنَّشَأْWe willنُغْرِقْهُمْWe could drown themفَلَاthen notصَرِيخَ(would be) a responder to a cryلَهُمْfor themوَلَاand notهُمْtheyيُنقَذُونَwould be saved﴿٤٣﴾

And if We should will, We could drown them; then no one responding to a cry would there be for them, nor would they be saved

إِلَّاExceptرَحْمَةً(by) Mercyمِّنَّاfrom Usوَمَتَٰعًاand provisionإِلَىٰforحِينٍa time﴿٤٤﴾

Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time

وَإِذَاAnd whenقِيلَit is saidلَهُمُto themٱتَّقُوا۟Fearمَاwhatبَيْنَ(is) before youأَيْدِيكُمْ(is) before youوَمَاand whatخَلْفَكُمْ(is) behind youلَعَلَّكُمْso that you mayتُرْحَمُونَreceive mercy﴿٤٥﴾

But when it is said to them, "Beware of what is before you and what is behind you; perhaps you will receive mercy

وَمَاAnd notتَأْتِيهِمcomes to themمِّنْofءَايَةٍa Signمِّنْfromءَايَٰتِ(the) Signsرَبِّهِمْ(of) their Lordإِلَّاbutكَانُوا۟theyعَنْهَاfrom itمُعْرِضِينَturn away﴿٤٦﴾

And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they are from it turning away

وَإِذَاAnd whenقِيلَit is saidلَهُمْto themأَنفِقُوا۟Spendمِمَّاfrom whatرَزَقَكُمُ(has) provided youٱللَّهُAllahقَالَSaidٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedلِلَّذِينَto those whoءَامَنُوٓا۟believedأَنُطْعِمُShould we feedمَنwhomلَّوْifيَشَآءُAllah willed ٱللَّهُAllah willed أَطْعَمَهُۥٓHe would have fed himإِنْNotأَنتُمْ(are) youإِلَّاexceptفِىinضَلَٰلٍan errorمُّبِينٍclear﴿٤٧﴾

And when it is said to them, "Spend from that which Allah has provided for you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Should we feed one whom, if Allah had willed, He would have fed? You are not but in clear error

وَيَقُولُونَAnd they sayمَتَىٰWhen (is)هَٰذَاthisٱلْوَعْدُpromiseإِنifكُنتُمْyou areصَٰدِقِينَtruthful﴿٤٨﴾

And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful

مَاNotيَنظُرُونَthey awaitإِلَّاexceptصَيْحَةًa shoutوَٰحِدَةًoneتَأْخُذُهُمْit will seize themوَهُمْwhile theyيَخِصِّمُونَare disputing﴿٤٩﴾

They do not await except one blast which will seize them while they are disputing

فَلَاThen notيَسْتَطِيعُونَthey will be ableتَوْصِيَةً(to) make a willوَلَآand notإِلَىٰٓtoأَهْلِهِمْtheir peopleيَرْجِعُونَthey (can) return﴿٥٠﴾

And they will not be able [to give] any instruction, nor to their people can they return

وَنُفِخَAnd will be blownفِى[in]ٱلصُّورِthe trumpetفَإِذَاand beholdهُمTheyمِّنَfromٱلْأَجْدَاثِthe gravesإِلَىٰtoرَبِّهِمْtheir Lordيَنسِلُونَ[they] will hasten﴿٥١﴾

And the Horn will be blown; and at once from the graves to their Lord they will hasten

قَالُوا۟They [will] sayيَٰوَيْلَنَاO woe to usمَنۢWhoبَعَثَنَاhas raised usمِنfromمَّرْقَدِنَاour sleeping placeهَٰذَاThis (is)مَاWhatوَعَدَ(had) promisedٱلرَّحْمَٰنُthe Most Graciousوَصَدَقَand told (the) truthٱلْمُرْسَلُونَthe Messengers﴿٥٢﴾

They will say, "O woe to us! Who has raised us up from our sleeping place?" [The reply will be], "This is what the Most Merciful had promised, and the messengers told the truth

إِنNotكَانَتْit will beإِلَّاbutصَيْحَةًa shoutوَٰحِدَةًsingleفَإِذَاso beholdهُمْTheyجَمِيعٌallلَّدَيْنَاbefore Usمُحْضَرُونَ(will be) brought﴿٥٣﴾

It will not be but one blast, and at once they are all brought present before Us

فَٱلْيَوْمَSo this Dayلَاnotتُظْلَمُwill be wrongedنَفْسٌa soulشَيْـًٔا(in) anythingوَلَاand notتُجْزَوْنَyou will be recompensedإِلَّاexceptمَا(for) whatكُنتُمْyou used (to)تَعْمَلُونَdo﴿٥٤﴾

So today no soul will be wronged at all, and you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do

إِنَّIndeedأَصْحَٰبَ(the) companionsٱلْجَنَّةِ(of) Paradiseٱلْيَوْمَthis Dayفِى[in]شُغُلٍwill be occupiedفَٰكِهُونَ(in) amusement﴿٥٥﴾

Indeed the companions of Paradise, that Day, will be amused in [joyful] occupation

هُمْTheyوَأَزْوَٰجُهُمْand their spousesفِىinظِلَٰلٍshadesعَلَىonٱلْأَرَآئِكِ[the] couchesمُتَّكِـُٔونَreclining﴿٥٦﴾

They and their spouses - in shade, reclining on adorned couches

لَهُمْFor themفِيهَاthereinفَٰكِهَةٌ(are) fruitsوَلَهُمand for themمَّا(is) whateverيَدَّعُونَthey call for﴿٥٧﴾

For them therein is fruit, and for them is whatever they request [or wish]

سَلَٰمٌPeaceقَوْلًاA wordمِّنfromرَّبٍّa LordرَّحِيمٍMost Merciful﴿٥٨﴾

[And] "Peace," a word from a Merciful Lord

وَٱمْتَٰزُوا۟But stand apartٱلْيَوْمَtodayأَيُّهَاO criminalsٱلْمُجْرِمُونَO criminals﴿٥٩﴾

[Then He will say], "But stand apart today, you criminals

أَلَمْDid notأَعْهَدْI enjoinإِلَيْكُمْupon youيَٰبَنِىٓO Children of AdamءَادَمَO Children of AdamأَنThatلَّا(do) notتَعْبُدُوا۟worshipٱلشَّيْطَٰنَthe Shaitaanإِنَّهُۥindeed, heلَكُمْ(is) for youعَدُوٌّan enemyمُّبِينٌclear﴿٦٠﴾

Did I not enjoin upon you, O children of Adam, that you not worship Satan - [for] indeed, he is to you a clear enemy
