29. Al-'Ankabut

مَثَلُ(The) exampleٱلَّذِينَ(of) those whoٱتَّخَذُوا۟takeمِنbesidesدُونِbesidesٱللَّهِAllahأَوْلِيَآءَprotectorsكَمَثَلِ(is) likeٱلْعَنكَبُوتِthe spiderٱتَّخَذَتْwho takesبَيْتًاa houseوَإِنَّAnd indeedأَوْهَنَthe weakestٱلْبُيُوتِ(of) housesلَبَيْتُ(is) surely (the) houseٱلْعَنكَبُوتِ(of) the spiderلَوْif (only)كَانُوا۟theyيَعْلَمُونَknow﴿٤١﴾

The example of those who take allies other than Allah is like that of the spider who takes a home. And indeed, the weakest of homes is the home of the spider, if they only knew

إِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahيَعْلَمُknowsمَاwhatيَدْعُونَthey invokeمِنbesides Himدُونِهِۦbesides HimمِنanyشَىْءٍthingوَهُوَAnd Heٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyٱلْحَكِيمُthe All-Wise﴿٤٢﴾

Indeed, Allah knows whatever thing they call upon other than Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise

وَتِلْكَAnd theseٱلْأَمْثَٰلُexamplesنَضْرِبُهَاWe set forthلِلنَّاسِto mankindوَمَاbut notيَعْقِلُهَآwill understand themإِلَّاexceptٱلْعَٰلِمُونَthose of knowledge﴿٤٣﴾

And these examples We present to the people, but none will understand them except those of knowledge

خَلَقَAllah createdٱللَّهُAllah createdٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضَand the earthبِٱلْحَقِّin truthإِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَءَايَةً(is) surely a Signلِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَfor the believers﴿٤٤﴾

Allah created the heavens and the earth in truth. Indeed in that is a sign for the believers

ٱتْلُReciteمَآwhatأُوحِىَhas been revealedإِلَيْكَto youمِنَofٱلْكِتَٰبِthe Bookوَأَقِمِand establishٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayerإِنَّIndeedٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayerتَنْهَىٰpreventsعَنِfromٱلْفَحْشَآءِthe immoralityوَٱلْمُنكَرِand evil deedsوَلَذِكْرُand surely (the) remembranceٱللَّهِ(of) Allahأَكْبَرُ(is) greatestوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahيَعْلَمُknowsمَاwhatتَصْنَعُونَyou do﴿٤٥﴾

Recite, [O Muhammad], what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows that which you do

وَلَاAnd (do) notتُجَٰدِلُوٓا۟argueأَهْلَ(with the) People of the Bookٱلْكِتَٰبِ(with the) People of the Bookإِلَّاexceptبِٱلَّتِىby whichهِىَ[it]أَحْسَنُ(is) bestإِلَّاexceptٱلَّذِينَthose whoظَلَمُوا۟(do) wrongمِنْهُمْamong themوَقُولُوٓا۟and sayءَامَنَّاWe believeبِٱلَّذِىٓin that (which)أُنزِلَhas been revealedإِلَيْنَاto usوَأُنزِلَand was revealedإِلَيْكُمْto youوَإِلَٰهُنَاAnd our Godوَإِلَٰهُكُمْand your Godوَٰحِدٌ(is) Oneوَنَحْنُand weلَهُۥto Himمُسْلِمُونَsubmit﴿٤٦﴾

And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in a way that is best, except for those who commit injustice among them, and say, "We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him

وَكَذَٰلِكَAnd thusأَنزَلْنَآWe (have) revealedإِلَيْكَto youٱلْكِتَٰبَthe BookفَٱلَّذِينَSo thoseءَاتَيْنَٰهُمُWe gave [them]ٱلْكِتَٰبَthe BookيُؤْمِنُونَbelieveبِهِۦthereinوَمِنْAnd amongهَٰٓؤُلَآءِtheseمَن(are some) whoيُؤْمِنُbelieveبِهِۦthereinوَمَاAnd noneيَجْحَدُrejectبِـَٔايَٰتِنَآOur Versesإِلَّاexceptٱلْكَٰفِرُونَthe disbelievers﴿٤٧﴾

And thus We have sent down to you the Qur'an. And those to whom We [previously] gave the Scripture believe in it. And among these [people of Makkah] are those who believe in it. And none reject Our verses except the disbelievers

وَمَاAnd notكُنتَ(did) youتَتْلُوا۟reciteمِنbefore itقَبْلِهِۦbefore itمِنanyكِتَٰبٍBookوَلَاand notتَخُطُّهُۥ(did) you write itبِيَمِينِكَwith your right handإِذًاin that caseلَّٱرْتَابَsurely (would) have doubtedٱلْمُبْطِلُونَthe falsifiers﴿٤٨﴾

And you did not recite before it any scripture, nor did you inscribe one with your right hand. Otherwise the falsifiers would have had [cause for] doubt

بَلْNayهُوَitءَايَٰتٌۢ(is) Versesبَيِّنَٰتٌclearفِىinصُدُورِ(the) breastsٱلَّذِينَ(of) those whoأُوتُوا۟are givenٱلْعِلْمَthe knowledgeوَمَاAnd notيَجْحَدُrejectبِـَٔايَٰتِنَآOur Versesإِلَّاexceptٱلظَّٰلِمُونَthe wrongdoers﴿٤٩﴾

Rather, the Qur'an is distinct verses [preserved] within the breasts of those who have been given knowledge. And none reject Our verses except the wrongdoers

وَقَالُوا۟And they sayلَوْلَآWhy notأُنزِلَare sent downعَلَيْهِto himءَايَٰتٌ(the) Signsمِّنfromرَّبِّهِۦhis LordقُلْSayإِنَّمَاOnlyٱلْءَايَٰتُthe Signsعِندَ(are) withٱللَّهِAllahوَإِنَّمَآand onlyأَنَا۠I (am)نَذِيرٌa warnerمُّبِينٌclear﴿٥٠﴾

But they say, "Why are not signs sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, "The signs are only with Allah, and I am only a clear warner

أَوَلَمْAnd is (it) notيَكْفِهِمْsufficient for themأَنَّآthat Weأَنزَلْنَاrevealedعَلَيْكَto youٱلْكِتَٰبَthe Bookيُتْلَىٰ(which) is recitedعَلَيْهِمْto themإِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَرَحْمَةًsurely is a mercyوَذِكْرَىٰand a reminderلِقَوْمٍfor a peopleيُؤْمِنُونَwho believe﴿٥١﴾

And is it not sufficient for them that We revealed to you the Book which is recited to them? Indeed in that is a mercy and reminder for a people who believe

قُلْSayكَفَىٰSufficient isبِٱللَّهِAllahبَيْنِىbetween meوَبَيْنَكُمْand between youشَهِيدًا(as) a WitnessيَعْلَمُHe knowsمَاwhatفِى(is) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthوَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoءَامَنُوا۟believeبِٱلْبَٰطِلِin [the] falsehoodوَكَفَرُوا۟and disbelieveبِٱللَّهِin Allahأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthoseهُمُtheyٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ(are) the losers﴿٥٢﴾

Say, "Sufficient is Allah between me and you as Witness. He knows what is in the heavens and earth. And they who have believed in falsehood and disbelieved in Allah - it is those who are the losers

وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَAnd they ask you to hastenبِٱلْعَذَابِ[with] the punishmentوَلَوْلَآAnd if notأَجَلٌ(for) a termمُّسَمًّىappointedلَّجَآءَهُمُsurely (would) have come to themٱلْعَذَابُthe punishmentوَلَيَأْتِيَنَّهُمBut it will surely come to themبَغْتَةًsuddenlyوَهُمْwhile theyلَا(do) notيَشْعُرُونَperceive﴿٥٣﴾

And they urge you to hasten the punishment. And if not for [the decree of] a specified term, punishment would have reached them. But it will surely come to them suddenly while they perceive not

يَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَThey ask you to hastenبِٱلْعَذَابِthe punishmentوَإِنَّAnd indeedجَهَنَّمَHellلَمُحِيطَةٌۢwill surely, encompassبِٱلْكَٰفِرِينَthe disbelievers﴿٥٤﴾

They urge you to hasten the punishment. And indeed, Hell will be encompassing of the disbelievers

يَوْمَOn (the) Dayيَغْشَىٰهُمُwill cover themٱلْعَذَابُthe punishmentمِنfromفَوْقِهِمْabove themوَمِنand fromتَحْتِbelowأَرْجُلِهِمْtheir feetوَيَقُولُand He will sayذُوقُوا۟Tasteمَاwhatكُنتُمْyou usedتَعْمَلُونَ(to) do﴿٥٥﴾

On the Day the punishment will cover them from above them and from below their feet and it is said, "Taste [the result of] what you used to do

يَٰعِبَادِىَO My servantsٱلَّذِينَwhoءَامَنُوٓا۟believeإِنَّIndeedأَرْضِىMy earthوَٰسِعَةٌ(is) spaciousفَإِيَّٰىَso onlyفَٱعْبُدُونِworship Me﴿٥٦﴾

O My servants who have believed, indeed My earth is spacious, so worship only Me

كُلُّEveryنَفْسٍsoulذَآئِقَةُ(will) tasteٱلْمَوْتِthe deathثُمَّThenإِلَيْنَاto Usتُرْجَعُونَyou will be returned﴿٥٧﴾

Every soul will taste death. Then to Us will you be returned

وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoءَامَنُوا۟believeوَعَمِلُوا۟and doٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ[the] righteous deedsلَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمsurely We will give them a placeمِّنَinٱلْجَنَّةِParadiseغُرَفًاlofty dwellingsتَجْرِىflowمِنfromتَحْتِهَاunderneath itٱلْأَنْهَٰرُthe riversخَٰلِدِينَwill abide foreverفِيهَاin itنِعْمَExcellent isأَجْرُ(the) rewardٱلْعَٰمِلِينَ(of) the workers﴿٥٨﴾

And those who have believed and done righteous deeds - We will surely assign to them of Paradise [elevated] chambers beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. Excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers

ٱلَّذِينَThose whoصَبَرُوا۟(are) patientوَعَلَىٰand uponرَبِّهِمْtheir Lordيَتَوَكَّلُونَput their trust﴿٥٩﴾

Who have been patient and upon their Lord rely

وَكَأَيِّنAnd how manyمِّنofدَآبَّةٍa creatureلَّا(does) notتَحْمِلُcarryرِزْقَهَاits provisionٱللَّهُAllahيَرْزُقُهَاprovides (for) itوَإِيَّاكُمْand (for) youوَهُوَAnd Heٱلسَّمِيعُ(is) the All-Hearerٱلْعَلِيمُthe All-Knower﴿٦٠﴾

And how many a creature carries not its [own] provision. Allah provides for it and for you. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing
