20. Taha

وَٱصْطَنَعْتُكَAnd I (have) chosen youلِنَفْسِىfor Myself﴿٤١﴾

And I produced you for Myself

ٱذْهَبْGoأَنتَyouوَأَخُوكَand your brotherبِـَٔايَٰتِىwith My Signsوَلَاand (do) notتَنِيَاslackenفِىinذِكْرِىMy remembrance﴿٤٢﴾

Go, you and your brother, with My signs and do not slacken in My remembrance

ٱذْهَبَآGo, both of youإِلَىٰtoفِرْعَوْنَFiraunإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heطَغَىٰ(has) transgressed﴿٤٣﴾

Go, both of you, to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed

فَقُولَاAnd speakلَهُۥto himقَوْلًاa wordلَّيِّنًاgentleلَّعَلَّهُۥperhaps heيَتَذَكَّرُmay take heedأَوْorيَخْشَىٰfear﴿٤٤﴾

And speak to him with gentle speech that perhaps he may be reminded or fear [Allah]

قَالَاThey saidرَبَّنَآOur LordإِنَّنَاIndeed, weنَخَافُfearأَنthatيَفْرُطَhe will hastenعَلَيْنَآagainst usأَوْorأَنthatيَطْغَىٰhe will transgress﴿٤٥﴾

They said, "Our Lord, indeed we are afraid that he will hasten [punishment] against us or that he will transgress

قَالَHe saidلَا(Do) notتَخَافَآfearإِنَّنِىIndeed, I Amمَعَكُمَآwith you bothأَسْمَعُI hearوَأَرَىٰand I see﴿٤٦﴾

[Allah] said, "Fear not. Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see

فَأْتِيَاهُSo go to himفَقُولَآand sayإِنَّاIndeed, weرَسُولَاboth (are) Messengersرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordفَأَرْسِلْso sendمَعَنَاwith usبَنِىٓ(the) Children of Israelإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(the) Children of Israelوَلَاand (do) notتُعَذِّبْهُمْtorment themقَدْVerilyجِئْنَٰكَwe came to youبِـَٔايَةٍwith a Signمِّنfromرَّبِّكَyour LordوَٱلسَّلَٰمُAnd peaceعَلَىٰonمَنِ(one) whoٱتَّبَعَfollowsٱلْهُدَىٰٓthe Guidance﴿٤٧﴾

So go to him and say, 'Indeed, we are messengers of your Lord, so send with us the Children of Israel and do not torment them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord. And peace will be upon he who follows the guidance

إِنَّاIndeed, weقَدْverilyأُوحِىَit has been revealedإِلَيْنَآto usأَنَّthatٱلْعَذَابَthe punishmentعَلَىٰ(will be) onمَن(one) whoكَذَّبَdeniesوَتَوَلَّىٰand turns away﴿٤٨﴾

Indeed, it has been revealed to us that the punishment will be upon whoever denies and turns away

قَالَHe saidفَمَنThen whoرَّبُّكُمَا(is) your LordيَٰمُوسَىٰO Musa﴿٤٩﴾

[Pharaoh] said, "So who is the Lord of you two, O Moses

قَالَHe saidرَبُّنَاOur Lordٱلَّذِىٓ(is) the One Whoأَعْطَىٰgaveكُلَّ(to) everyشَىْءٍthingخَلْقَهُۥits formثُمَّthenهَدَىٰHe guided (it)﴿٥٠﴾

He said, "Our Lord is He who gave each thing its form and then guided [it]

قَالَHe saidفَمَاThen whatبَالُ(is the) caseٱلْقُرُونِ(of) the generationsٱلْأُولَىٰ(of) the former﴿٥١﴾

[Pharaoh] said, "Then what is the case of the former generations

قَالَHe saidعِلْمُهَاIts knowledgeعِندَ(is) withرَبِّىmy Lordفِىinكِتَٰبٍa RecordلَّاNotيَضِلُّerrsرَبِّىmy Lordوَلَاand notيَنسَىforgets﴿٥٢﴾

[Moses] said, "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord in a record. My Lord neither errs nor forgets

ٱلَّذِىThe One Whoجَعَلَmadeلَكُمُfor youٱلْأَرْضَthe earthمَهْدًا(as) a bedوَسَلَكَand insertedلَكُمْfor youفِيهَاthereinسُبُلًاwaysوَأَنزَلَand sent downمِنَfromٱلسَّمَآءِthe skyمَآءًwaterفَأَخْرَجْنَاthen We (have) brought forthبِهِۦٓwith itأَزْوَٰجًاpairsمِّنofنَّبَاتٍplantsشَتَّىٰdiverse﴿٥٣﴾

[It is He] who has made for you the earth as a bed [spread out] and inserted therein for you roadways and sent down from the sky, rain and produced thereby categories of various plants

كُلُوا۟Eatوَٱرْعَوْا۟and pastureأَنْعَٰمَكُمْyour cattleإِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَءَايَٰتٍsurely (are) Signsلِّأُو۟لِىfor possessorsٱلنُّهَىٰ(of) intelligence﴿٥٤﴾

Eat [therefrom] and pasture your livestock. Indeed, in that are signs for those of intelligence

مِنْهَاFrom itخَلَقْنَٰكُمْWe created youوَفِيهَاand in itنُعِيدُكُمْWe will return youوَمِنْهَاand from itنُخْرِجُكُمْWe will bring you outتَارَةًtimeأُخْرَىٰanother﴿٥٥﴾

From the earth We created you, and into it We will return you, and from it We will extract you another time

وَلَقَدْAnd verilyأَرَيْنَٰهُWe showed himءَايَٰتِنَاOur Signsكُلَّهَاall of themفَكَذَّبَbut he deniedوَأَبَىٰand refused﴿٥٦﴾

And We certainly showed Pharaoh Our signs - all of them - but he denied and refused

قَالَHe saidأَجِئْتَنَاHave you come to usلِتُخْرِجَنَاto drive us outمِنْofأَرْضِنَاour landبِسِحْرِكَwith your magicيَٰمُوسَىٰO Musa﴿٥٧﴾

He said, "Have you come to us to drive us out of our land with your magic, O Moses

فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّكَThen we will surely produce for youبِسِحْرٍmagicمِّثْلِهِۦlike itفَٱجْعَلْSo makeبَيْنَنَاbetween usوَبَيْنَكَand between youمَوْعِدًاan appointmentلَّاnotنُخْلِفُهُۥwe will fail itنَحْنُ[we]وَلَآand notأَنتَyouمَكَانًا(in) a placeسُوًىeven﴿٥٨﴾

Then we will surely bring you magic like it, so make between us and you an appointment, which we will not fail to keep and neither will you, in a place assigned

قَالَHe saidمَوْعِدُكُمْYour appointmentيَوْمُ(is on the) dayٱلزِّينَةِ(of) the festivalوَأَنand thatيُحْشَرَwill be assembledٱلنَّاسُthe peopleضُحًى(at) forenoon﴿٥٩﴾

[Moses] said, "Your appointment is on the day of the festival when the people assemble at mid-morning

فَتَوَلَّىٰThen went awayفِرْعَوْنُFiraunفَجَمَعَand put togetherكَيْدَهُۥhis planثُمَّthenأَتَىٰcame﴿٦٠﴾

So Pharaoh went away, put together his plan, and then came [to Moses]
