19. Maryam

وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟And they have takenمِنbesides Allahدُونِbesides Allahٱللَّهِbesides Allahءَالِهَةًgodsلِّيَكُونُوا۟that they may beلَهُمْfor themعِزًّاan honor﴿٨١﴾

And they have taken besides Allah [false] deities that they would be for them [a source of] honor

كَلَّاNayسَيَكْفُرُونَthey will denyبِعِبَادَتِهِمْtheir worship (of them)وَيَكُونُونَand they will beعَلَيْهِمْagainst themضِدًّاopponents﴿٨٢﴾

No! Those "gods" will deny their worship of them and will be against them opponents [on the Day of Judgement]

أَلَمْDo notتَرَyou seeأَنَّآthat Weأَرْسَلْنَا[We] have sentٱلشَّيَٰطِينَthe devilsعَلَىuponٱلْكَٰفِرِينَthe disbelieversتَؤُزُّهُمْinciting themأَزًّا(with) incitement﴿٨٣﴾

Do you not see that We have sent the devils upon the disbelievers, inciting them to [evil] with [constant] incitement

فَلَاSo (do) notتَعْجَلْmake hasteعَلَيْهِمْagainst themإِنَّمَاOnlyنَعُدُّWe countلَهُمْfor themعَدًّاa number﴿٨٤﴾

So be not impatient over them. We only count out to them a [limited] number

يَوْمَ(The) DayنَحْشُرُWe will gatherٱلْمُتَّقِينَthe righteousإِلَىtoٱلرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousوَفْدًا(as) a delegation﴿٨٥﴾

On the Day We will gather the righteous to the Most Merciful as a delegation

وَنَسُوقُAnd We will driveٱلْمُجْرِمِينَthe criminalsإِلَىٰtoجَهَنَّمَHellوِرْدًاthirsty﴿٨٦﴾

And will drive the criminals to Hell in thirst

لَّاNotيَمْلِكُونَthey will have the powerٱلشَّفَٰعَةَ(of) the intercessionإِلَّاexceptمَنِ(he) whoٱتَّخَذَhas takenعِندَfromٱلرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousعَهْدًاa covenant﴿٨٧﴾

None will have [power of] intercession except he who had taken from the Most Merciful a covenant

وَقَالُوا۟And they sayٱتَّخَذَHas takenٱلرَّحْمَٰنُthe Most Graciousوَلَدًاa son﴿٨٨﴾

And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken [for Himself] a son

لَّقَدْVerilyجِئْتُمْyou have put forthشَيْـًٔاa thingإِدًّاatrocious﴿٨٩﴾

You have done an atrocious thing

تَكَادُAlmostٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُthe heavensيَتَفَطَّرْنَget tornمِنْهُtherefromوَتَنشَقُّand splits asunderٱلْأَرْضُthe earthوَتَخِرُّand collapseٱلْجِبَالُthe mountainهَدًّا(in) devastation﴿٩٠﴾

The heavens almost rupture therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastation

أَنThatدَعَوْا۟they invokeلِلرَّحْمَٰنِto the Most Graciousوَلَدًاa son﴿٩١﴾

That they attribute to the Most Merciful a son

وَمَاAnd notيَنۢبَغِىis appropriateلِلرَّحْمَٰنِfor the Most GraciousأَنthatيَتَّخِذَHe should takeوَلَدًاa son﴿٩٢﴾

And it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful that He should take a son

إِنNotكُلُّallمَنwhoفِى(are) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthإِلَّآbutءَاتِى(will) comeٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ(to) the Most Graciousعَبْدًا(as) a slave﴿٩٣﴾

There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant

لَّقَدْVerilyأَحْصَىٰهُمْHe has enumerated themوَعَدَّهُمْand counted themعَدًّاa counting﴿٩٤﴾

He has enumerated them and counted them a [full] counting

وَكُلُّهُمْAnd all of themءَاتِيهِ(will) come (to) Himيَوْمَ(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionفَرْدًاalone﴿٩٥﴾

And all of them are coming to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone

إِنَّIndeedٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟believedوَعَمِلُوا۟and didٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِgood deedsسَيَجْعَلُwill bestowلَهُمُfor themٱلرَّحْمَٰنُthe Most Graciousوُدًّاaffection﴿٩٦﴾

Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds - the Most Merciful will appoint for them affection

فَإِنَّمَاSo, onlyيَسَّرْنَٰهُWe (have) made it easyبِلِسَانِكَin your tongueلِتُبَشِّرَthat you may give glad tidingsبِهِwith itٱلْمُتَّقِينَ(to) the righteousوَتُنذِرَand warnبِهِۦwith itقَوْمًاa peopleلُّدًّاhostile﴿٩٧﴾

So, [O Muhammad], We have only made Qur'an easy in the Arabic language that you may give good tidings thereby to the righteous and warn thereby a hostile people

وَكَمْAnd how manyأَهْلَكْنَاWe (have) destroyedقَبْلَهُمbefore themمِّنofقَرْنٍa generationهَلْCanتُحِسُّyou perceiveمِنْهُمof themمِّنْanyأَحَدٍoneأَوْorتَسْمَعُhearلَهُمْfrom themرِكْزًۢاa sound﴿٩٨﴾

And how many have We destroyed before them of generations? Do you perceive of them anyone or hear from them a sound
