101. Al-Qari'ah

ٱلْقَارِعَةُThe Striking Calamity﴿١﴾

The Striking Calamity

مَاWhatٱلْقَارِعَةُ(is) the Striking Calamity﴿٢﴾

What is the Striking Calamity

وَمَآAnd whatأَدْرَىٰكَwill make you knowمَاwhatٱلْقَارِعَةُ(is) the Striking Calamity﴿٣﴾

And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity

يَوْمَ(The) Dayيَكُونُwill beٱلنَّاسُthe mankindكَٱلْفَرَاشِlike mothsٱلْمَبْثُوثِscattered﴿٤﴾

It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed

وَتَكُونُAnd will beٱلْجِبَالُthe mountainsكَٱلْعِهْنِlike woolٱلْمَنفُوشِfluffed up﴿٥﴾

And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up

فَأَمَّاThen as forمَن(him) whoseثَقُلَتْ(are) heavyمَوَٰزِينُهُۥhis scales﴿٦﴾

Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds]

فَهُوَThen heفِى(will be) inعِيشَةٍa lifeرَّاضِيَةٍpleasant﴿٧﴾

He will be in a pleasant life

وَأَمَّاBut as forمَنْ(him) whoseخَفَّتْ(are) lightمَوَٰزِينُهُۥhis scales﴿٨﴾

But as for one whose scales are light

فَأُمُّهُۥHis abodeهَاوِيَةٌ(will be the) Pit﴿٩﴾

His refuge will be an abyss

وَمَآAnd whatأَدْرَىٰكَwill make you knowمَاwhatهِيَهْit is﴿١٠﴾

And what can make you know what that is

نَارٌA Fireحَامِيَةٌۢintensely hot﴿١١﴾

It is a Fire, intensely hot
