92. Al-Layl

وَٱلَّيْلِBy the nightإِذَاwhenيَغْشَىٰit covers﴿١﴾

By the night when it covers

وَٱلنَّهَارِAnd the dayإِذَاwhenتَجَلَّىٰit shines in brightness﴿٢﴾

And [by] the day when it appears

وَمَاAnd He Whoخَلَقَcreatedٱلذَّكَرَthe maleوَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓand the female﴿٣﴾

And [by] He who created the male and female

إِنَّIndeedسَعْيَكُمْyour effortsلَشَتَّىٰ(are) surely diverse﴿٤﴾

Indeed, your efforts are diverse

فَأَمَّاThen as forمَنْ(him) whoأَعْطَىٰgivesوَٱتَّقَىٰand fears﴿٥﴾

As for he who gives and fears Allah

وَصَدَّقَAnd believesبِٱلْحُسْنَىٰin the best﴿٦﴾

And believes in the best [reward]

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥThen We will ease himلِلْيُسْرَىٰtowards [the] ease﴿٧﴾

We will ease him toward ease

وَأَمَّاBut as forمَنۢ(him) whoبَخِلَwithholdsوَٱسْتَغْنَىٰand considers himself free from need﴿٨﴾

But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need

وَكَذَّبَAnd deniesبِٱلْحُسْنَىٰthe best﴿٩﴾

And denies the best [reward]

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥThen We will ease himلِلْعُسْرَىٰtowards [the] difficulty﴿١٠﴾

We will ease him toward difficulty

وَمَاAnd notيُغْنِىwill availعَنْهُhimمَالُهُۥٓhis wealthإِذَاwhenتَرَدَّىٰٓhe falls﴿١١﴾

And what will his wealth avail him when he falls

إِنَّIndeedعَلَيْنَاupon Usلَلْهُدَىٰ(is) the guidance﴿١٢﴾

Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance

وَإِنَّAnd indeedلَنَاfor Usلَلْءَاخِرَةَ(is) the Hereafterوَٱلْأُولَىٰand the first (life)﴿١٣﴾

And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]

فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْSo I warn youنَارًا(of) a Fireتَلَظَّىٰblazing﴿١٤﴾

So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing

لَاNotيَصْلَىٰهَآwill burn (in) itإِلَّاexceptٱلْأَشْقَىthe most wretched﴿١٥﴾

None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one

ٱلَّذِىThe one whoكَذَّبَdeniedوَتَوَلَّىٰand turned away﴿١٦﴾

Who had denied and turned away

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَاBut will be removed from itٱلْأَتْقَىthe righteous﴿١٧﴾

But the righteous one will avoid it

ٱلَّذِىThe one whoيُؤْتِىgivesمَالَهُۥhis wealthيَتَزَكَّىٰ(to) purify himself﴿١٨﴾

[He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself

وَمَاAnd notلِأَحَدٍfor anyoneعِندَهُۥwith himمِنanyنِّعْمَةٍfavorتُجْزَىٰٓto be recompensed﴿١٩﴾

And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded

إِلَّاExceptٱبْتِغَآءَseekingوَجْهِ(the) Countenanceرَبِّهِ(of) his Lordٱلْأَعْلَىٰthe Most High﴿٢٠﴾

But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High
