74. Al-Muddaththir

يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO youٱلْمُدَّثِّرُwho covers himself﴿١﴾

O you who covers himself [with a garment]

قُمْStand upفَأَنذِرْand warn﴿٢﴾

Arise and warn

وَرَبَّكَAnd your Lordفَكَبِّرْmagnify﴿٣﴾

And your Lord glorify

وَثِيَابَكَAnd your clothingفَطَهِّرْpurify﴿٤﴾

And your clothing purify

وَٱلرُّجْزَAnd uncleanlinessفَٱهْجُرْavoid﴿٥﴾

And uncleanliness avoid

وَلَاAnd (do) notتَمْنُنconfer favorتَسْتَكْثِرُ(to) acquire more﴿٦﴾

And do not confer favor to acquire more

وَلِرَبِّكَAnd for your Lordفَٱصْبِرْbe patient﴿٧﴾

But for your Lord be patient

فَإِذَاThen whenنُقِرَis blownفِىinٱلنَّاقُورِthe trumpet﴿٨﴾

And when the trumpet is blown

فَذَٰلِكَThatيَوْمَئِذٍDayيَوْمٌ(will be) a Dayعَسِيرٌdifficult﴿٩﴾

That Day will be a difficult day

عَلَىForٱلْكَٰفِرِينَthe disbelievers غَيْرُnotيَسِيرٍeasy﴿١٠﴾

For the disbelievers - not easy

ذَرْنِىLeave Meوَمَنْand whomخَلَقْتُI createdوَحِيدًاalone﴿١١﴾

Leave Me with the one I created alone

وَجَعَلْتُAnd I grantedلَهُۥto himمَالًاwealthمَّمْدُودًاextensive﴿١٢﴾

And to whom I granted extensive wealth

وَبَنِينَAnd childrenشُهُودًاpresent﴿١٣﴾

And children present [with him]

وَمَهَّدتُّAnd I spreadلَهُۥfor himتَمْهِيدًاease﴿١٤﴾

And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]

ثُمَّThenيَطْمَعُhe desiresأَنْthatأَزِيدَI (should) add more﴿١٥﴾

Then he desires that I should add more

كَلَّآBy no meansإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heكَانَhas beenلِءَايَٰتِنَاto Our Versesعَنِيدًاstubborn﴿١٦﴾

No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate

سَأُرْهِقُهُۥSoon I will cover Himصَعُودًا(with) a laborious punishment﴿١٧﴾

I will cover him with arduous torment

إِنَّهُۥIndeed, heفَكَّرَthoughtوَقَدَّرَand plotted﴿١٨﴾

Indeed, he thought and deliberated

فَقُتِلَSo may he be destroyedكَيْفَhowقَدَّرَhe plotted﴿١٩﴾

So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated

ثُمَّThenقُتِلَmay he be destroyedكَيْفَhowقَدَّرَhe plotted﴿٢٠﴾

Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated
