38. Sad

إِلَىٰUntilيَوْمِ(the) Dayٱلْوَقْتِ(of) the timeٱلْمَعْلُومِwell-known﴿٨١﴾

Until the Day of the time well-known

قَالَHe saidفَبِعِزَّتِكَThen by Your mightلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْI will surely mislead themأَجْمَعِينَall﴿٨٢﴾

[Iblees] said, "By your might, I will surely mislead them all

إِلَّاExceptعِبَادَكَYour slavesمِنْهُمُamong themٱلْمُخْلَصِينَthe chosen ones﴿٨٣﴾

Except, among them, Your chosen servants

قَالَHe saidفَٱلْحَقُّThen (it is) the truthوَٱلْحَقَّand the truthأَقُولُI say﴿٨٤﴾

[Allah] said, "The truth [is My oath], and the truth I say

لَأَمْلَأَنَّSurely I will fillجَهَنَّمَHellمِنكَwith youوَمِمَّنand those whoتَبِعَكَfollow youمِنْهُمْamong themأَجْمَعِينَall﴿٨٥﴾

[That] I will surely fill Hell with you and those of them that follow you all together

قُلْSayمَآNotأَسْـَٔلُكُمْI ask of youعَلَيْهِfor itمِنْanyأَجْرٍpaymentوَمَآand notأَنَا۠I amمِنَofٱلْمُتَكَلِّفِينَthe ones who pretend﴿٨٦﴾

Say, [O Muhammad], "I do not ask you for the Qur'an any payment, and I am not of the pretentious

إِنْNotهُوَit (is)إِلَّاexceptذِكْرٌa Reminderلِّلْعَٰلَمِينَto the worlds﴿٨٧﴾

It is but a reminder to the worlds

وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّAnd surely you will knowنَبَأَهُۥits informationبَعْدَafterحِينٍۭa time﴿٨٨﴾

And you will surely know [the truth of] its information after a time
