26. Ash-Shu'ara

طسٓمٓTa Seem Meem﴿١﴾

Ta, Seen, Meem

تِلْكَTheseءَايَٰتُ(are the) Versesٱلْكِتَٰبِ(of) the Bookٱلْمُبِينِclear﴿٢﴾

These are the verses of the clear Book

لَعَلَّكَPerhaps youبَٰخِعٌ(would) killنَّفْسَكَyourselfأَلَّاthat notيَكُونُوا۟they becomeمُؤْمِنِينَbelievers﴿٣﴾

Perhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers

إِنIfنَّشَأْWe willنُنَزِّلْWe can send downعَلَيْهِمto themمِّنَfromٱلسَّمَآءِthe skyءَايَةًa Signفَظَلَّتْso would bendأَعْنَٰقُهُمْtheir necksلَهَاto itخَٰضِعِينَ(in) humility﴿٤﴾

If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled

وَمَاAnd (does) notيَأْتِيهِمcome to themمِّنanyذِكْرٍreminderمِّنَfromٱلرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousمُحْدَثٍnewإِلَّاbutكَانُوا۟theyعَنْهُfrom itمُعْرِضِينَturn away﴿٥﴾

And no revelation comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it

فَقَدْSo verilyكَذَّبُوا۟they have deniedفَسَيَأْتِيهِمْthen will come to themأَنۢبَٰٓؤُا۟the newsمَا(of) whatكَانُوا۟they usedبِهِۦat itيَسْتَهْزِءُونَ(to) mock﴿٦﴾

For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule

أَوَلَمْDo notيَرَوْا۟they seeإِلَىatٱلْأَرْضِthe earth كَمْhow manyأَنۢبَتْنَاWe producedفِيهَاin itمِنofكُلِّeveryزَوْجٍkindكَرِيمٍnoble﴿٧﴾

Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind

إِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَءَايَةًsurely (is) a signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers﴿٨﴾

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers

وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely, Heٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful﴿٩﴾

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful

وَإِذْAnd whenنَادَىٰyour Lord calledرَبُّكَyour Lord calledمُوسَىٰٓMusaأَنِ[that]ٱئْتِGoٱلْقَوْمَ(to) the peopleٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ(who are) wrongdoers﴿١٠﴾

And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people

قَوْمَ(The) peopleفِرْعَوْنَ(of) FiraunأَلَاWill notيَتَّقُونَthey fear﴿١١﴾

The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah

قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy LordإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأَخَافُ[I] fearأَنthatيُكَذِّبُونِthey will deny me﴿١٢﴾

He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me

وَيَضِيقُAnd straitensصَدْرِىmy breastوَلَاand notيَنطَلِقُexpresses wellلِسَانِىmy tongueفَأَرْسِلْso sendإِلَىٰforهَٰرُونَHarun﴿١٣﴾

And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron

وَلَهُمْAnd they haveعَلَىَّagainst meذَنۢبٌa crimeفَأَخَافُso I fearأَنthatيَقْتُلُونِthey will kill me﴿١٤﴾

And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me

قَالَHe saidكَلَّاNayفَٱذْهَبَاgo both of youبِـَٔايَٰتِنَآwith Our SignsإِنَّاIndeed, Weمَعَكُم(are) with youمُّسْتَمِعُونَlistening﴿١٥﴾

[Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening

فَأْتِيَاSo go both of youفِرْعَوْنَ(to) Firaunفَقُولَآand sayإِنَّا'Indeed, weرَسُولُ(are the) Messengerرَبِّ(of the) Lordٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds﴿١٦﴾

Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds

أَنْ[That]أَرْسِلْsendمَعَنَاwith usبَنِىٓ(the) Children of Israel.'إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(the) Children of Israel.'﴿١٧﴾

[Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel

قَالَHe saidأَلَمْDid notنُرَبِّكَwe bring you upفِينَاamong usوَلِيدًا(as) a childوَلَبِثْتَand you remainedفِينَاamong usمِنْofعُمُرِكَyour lifeسِنِينَyears﴿١٨﴾

[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life

وَفَعَلْتَAnd you didفَعْلَتَكَyour deedٱلَّتِىwhichفَعَلْتَyou didوَأَنتَand youمِنَ(were) ofٱلْكَٰفِرِينَthe ungrateful﴿١٩﴾

And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful

قَالَHe saidفَعَلْتُهَآI did itإِذًاwhenوَأَنَا۠Iمِنَ(was) ofٱلضَّآلِّينَthose who are astray﴿٢٠﴾

[Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray
